A popular chip dip has been recalled after shards of broken glass were found in the product. The situation was discovered after complaints were made to the dip maker by customers about the dangers they found. This chip dip recall affects millions of Americans who shop in the southeastern United States.

If you are a customer at Publix grocery stores, you should take note, and check your refrigerator for the following product. UPC codes are included to ensure you have the exact product in the chip dip recall.

The FDA announced a recall of Publix Deli brand Artichoke and Spinach Dip because it might contain small glass shards.

The recall is for their 16-ounce containers of the dip with a Use By date of May 16 A1 or May 16 C1 and a UPC code of 000-41415-15961. The problem was first noticed in Lakeland, Florida. The supermarket giant has now had to issue a voluntary recall nationwide for the popular Publix Brand Artichoke and Spinach Dip. There is a high probability this product contains small glass fragments. How glass shards came to be in this chip dip is a mystery.

Since March 23, 2017; there have been eight FDA or USDA-announced recalls of food for containing non-food elements such as golf balls, plastic and a bat. It is now known the 16 oz. artichoke and spinach dip was sold at Publix stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina , Alabama and Tennessee. The UPC of 000-41415-15961, and a use-by-date of May 16 A1 and May 16 C1, is printed on the lid of the container. This will help you identify the recalled dip. This popular dip is found in the refrigerated cases of the Publix deli department.

Maria Brous, Media and Community Relations Director for Publix said “As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,”

This recall only applies to their private label Publix brand chip dip. Other brand chip dips are not affected. Because this is a huge public health risk; we ask you send this article to your family and friends. This is not good for Publix brand image, but at least they are not hiding the problem.
