Doctors BAFFLED by NATURAL Ingredient that’s MORE POWERFUL Than ANY KNOWN Antibiotic

Manuka Honey

A recent study published in the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, has discovered an astounding new antibiotic that occurs naturally…and it’s more powerful than any known antibiotic to date.

The antibiotic, known as “Manuka Honey,” is a special type of honey produced by bees that forage on the nectar of New Zealand’s Manuka bush, Leptospermum Scoparium, native to Australia and New Zealand only.

This incredible type of honey not only kills massive amounts of bacteria, but none of the bacteria killed by it have been able to build up an immunity to it—a huge discovery that could catapult the medical industry ahead by decades.

In a world where numerous antibiotic-resistant super bugs are popping up every few years, this could be just what humanity needs…and it’s made naturally by bees, and is available over the counter without a prescription.

From the study:

“There is an urgent need for new, effective agents in topical wound care, and selected honeys show potential in this regard. Using a medical-grade honey, eight species of problematic wound pathogens, including those with high levels of innate or acquired antibiotic resistance, were killed by 4.0-14.8% honey, which is a concentration that can be maintained in the wound environment. Resistance to honey could not be induced under conditions that rapidly induced resistance to antibiotics.”

According to Dr. Carter, one of the doctors who oversaw the study, the potency and antibiotic power of Manuka Honey comes from particular compounds, such as methylglyoxal, that cause multi-system failure in the bacteria.

In other words, Manuka Honey kills bacteria so fast, that they don’t even have time to adapt and evolve a resistance to the compounds. The biological benefits of Manuka Honey don’t stop there, however.

According to another study, published in the scientific journal Peer J, Manuka Honey can also be used to coat wounds and speed up the healing process:

“New Zealand manuka-type honeys, at the concentrations they can be applied in wound dressings are highly active in both preventing S. aureus biofilm formation and in their eradication, and do not result in bacteria becoming resistant. Methylglyoxal requires other components in manuka-type honeys for this anti-biofilm activity. Our findings support the use of well-defined manuka-type honeys as a topical anti-biofilm treatment for the effective management of wound healing.”

The new super food has been taking the health world by storm, with people using it to cure all manner of ailments and illnesses, including:

  • Acid Reflux
  • Acne
  • Eczema
  • Staph Infections
  • Tooth Decay
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Sore Throats
  • Allergies
  • …and more

Although according to WebMD, the use of Manuka Honey hasn’t been empirically validated for these issues, numerous users have provided anecdotal evidence claiming that the nectar is a godsend. Still, more and more evidence is piling up to support users’ claims.

According to Dr. Axe, you can’t use just any Manuka Honey, however. It has to be the right kind:

Genuine UMF Manuka Honey will have these four things:

  • It will have a UMF trademark clearly labeled on the front of the container.
  • It will be from a New Zealand UMF licensed company and labelled in New Zealand.
  • It will have the UMF company’s name and license number on the label.
  • It will have a UMF rating number of 5-16+. If it is labeled without the UMF or without a number, then it is not the genuine article.

According to the UMF association the UMF rating actually tests the antibacterial performance of a honey and compares it to phenol, a disinfectant. The Active Manuka Honey Association(AMHA) that does the testing states:

“The presence of the special non-peroxide activity can be detected only by an array of scientific testing directly relating to the phenol standard. The rating has a one-to-one relationship to the phenol standard.”

This means that a UMF rating of 20+ is equivalent in strength to a 20% solution of phenol. The ideal UMF rating varies depending on your purpose, but laboratory studies have shown that manuka honey with a non-peroxide activity level of UMF®12 to UMF®15 is effective against a wide range of very resistant bacteria.

Anything below 10 is not recommended for therapeutic use, however to get the most benefit a UMF of 20+ is recommended.
